Pine Bark (Pycnogenol)

Pine bark, like cinnamon and tree bark in general, is recognized as an antioxidant power, i.e. a special anti-intoxication of the increased level of proanthocyanidins. Indeed, pine bark has been rated at 800,000 ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) units per 100 grams.

In comparison, blueberries reach an ORAC value of only 5,000 units per 100 grams. This means that theoretically, pine bark benefits from an antioxidant power 160 times higher than blueberries, a food considered first-rate in terms of nutritional value.
 

In addition to the particularly high ORAC value, pine bark is rich in antiseptic and nutritious substances that:

• It stimulates the immune system, thus helping to neutralize infections. Pine bark extract contains the essential oil of the conifer with proven antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
• They lower the level of sugar (glucose) in the blood, improving the condition of people with diabetes.
• They increase sports performance and libido. Accompanied by l-arginine, pine bark extract contributes to better sperm quality and implicitly to higher concentrations of testosterone in the body.
• They can prevent cancer. Research conducted in China concluded that pine extract has a cytotoxic effect on cancer cells.
