Quite popular as a natural aphrodisiac, goat weed is known to improve hormone production and increase libido. It is a traditional Chinese herb that is called Epimedium in botanical terms (and yin yang huo in Chinese). There are several other ways in which this herb can make one's life easier. Goat grass is used as a popular treatment for erectile dysfunction. One study concluded that it could be a promising treatment for erectile dysfunction caused by nerve damage. The herb is also used to boost immunity, promote bone health, and for its anti-cancer and anti-HIV activities (we need more research on this).

Treats erectile dysfunction
This ability of the herb can be attributed to its icariin content – ÔÇőÔÇőicariin is an active ingredient found in goat grass that has beneficial properties.
Studies (preliminary but promising) have shown that icariin can also help support an erection – and the herb can be used as a potential treatment for erectile dysfunction, and that too with little or no side effects.

Increases testosterone production
Some studies have stated that icariin in goat grass can help increase testosterone levels. This also helps combat low energy levels and involuntary ejaculation.
Icariin has testosterone-mimicking properties, and this helps improve sex drive and performance. Studies have also shown how the plant can work as a sexual stimulant by increasing libido.
According to several leading practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine, goat grass is the best sexual tonic for both men and women.

Improves neural health
Some sources say that goat weed can also help treat depression, which could also contribute to erectile dysfunction in some cases. And the icariin in the plant acts as a neuroprotectant – it prevents inflammation, which can otherwise lead to cognitive decline.

Prevents osteoporosis
Reports suggest that goat's weed can be used to treat osteoporosis and bone loss after menopause. Other studies found that the herb could restore bone density in the spine. Icariin can also be used as an osteogenic compound in bone tissue.
According to a study by the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, icariin in goat grass could improve bone formation.

Improves liver health
Icariin has often been used in drugs for primary liver cancer. However, we need more research before we can conclude whether goat grass can improve liver function.

It could increase energy levels
According to some sources, goat grass can increase energy levels. But there are very few studies that support this fact. Therefore, we recommend that you talk to your doctor before using the plant for this purpose.

It can lower blood pressure
Some sources say that the herb can help regulate blood pressure levels, and this is especially true in menopausal women. But be careful with its use — as studies also say the herb might interact with blood pressure medications.

Treats insomnia
Goat grass can calm nerves and ease anxiety – and prevent the resulting insomnia.
On the other hand, the plant has stimulating effects. Therefore, if not administered in limited doses, it can cause insomnia instead.

Gives skin a glow
Although there is no specific use of goat's weed to treat a specific skin condition, it may improve skin health because it stimulates blood flow. Blood flow improves oxygen transport throughout the body, making the skin glow.
Anecdotal evidence suggests that the herb can also cure herpes. But we suggest you consult your doctor before using it for this purpose.

It can strengthen the hair
Our hair growth depends on the condition of the scalp and hormones. In some cases, especially in men, hormones are the main cause of hair loss. Imbalances in testosterone levels can also lead to hair problems. Since goat weed can increase testosterone levels, it might somehow stimulate hair growth.
