Calcium D-Glucarate is a relatively common nutrient found in many fruits and vegetables such as: grapefruit, apples, oranges, broccoli, spinach and Brussels sprouts. It is also produced naturally in very small amounts by the human body. This substance helps to eliminate toxins, especially carcinogenic ones. Since the body can only produce it in small quantities, it can be supplemented orally. Calcium D-Glucarate inhibits beta-glucuronidase, an enzyme produced by the microflora in the colon and which is involved in Phase II of liver detoxification.

Calcium D-Glucarate lowers the level of glucuronidase and thereby allows the body to eliminate carcinogens (chemicals that cause cancer). Elimination of carcinogens is mainly through the feces, therefore a clean colon is needed for the rapid transit of carcinogenic toxins and rapid elimination through the feces.

The excess presence of beta-glucuronidase is directly related to increased risks for the occurrence of cancers such as colon, breast, prostate, lung, etc. Another beneficial effect of calcium D-Glucarate supplementation is the regulation of estrogen metabolism (especially in women) and the reduction of lipid levels.

Researchers believe that this nutrient helps the body eliminate many harmful substances and helps lower abnormally high levels of steroid hormones including estrogen, testosterone, and progesterone. Both effects may help protect against the development of certain tumors.

This nutrient is currently the subject of numerous clinical trials and is proving to have great potential for addressing various health issues.

Scientists have found that it provides superior immune support through a different mechanism than antioxidants like vitamin C, carotenoids and folic acid. These vitamin antioxidants work by neutralizing toxins in the body. However, there are other mechanisms by which the human body can detoxify, such as conjugation and glucuronidation.

Conjugation and Glucuronidation are detoxification processes that occur when used toxins, carcinogens and hormones are combined and bound to water-soluble substances in the liver, making them easier to remove from the body. D-Glucarate has been shown to support this vital process by inhibiting an enzyme called beta-glucuronidase that can break the bonds between toxins and used hormones and allow them to be recirculated into the blood rather than excreted.
