Kelp is a brown seaweed that belongs to the Laminaria family. These algae are found in the oceans at a fairly shallow depth (between 5 and 40 meters), precisely so that sunlight can reach them, at a temperature between 5 and 20 degrees Celsius. In general, they form underwater forests and have a fast growth rate (between 10 and 60 centimeters per day).

Kelp extract is very rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and enzymes, being recognized for the high concentration of iodine it contains.

The benefits of consuming Kelp

It helps regulate the thyroid gland thanks to the level of iodine it contains, a mineral that plays an important role in regulating thyroid hormones and therefore metabolism and energy levels.

The role of iodine in maintaining health
The thyroid is a small gland in the neck area that secretes the thyroid hormone, a hormone that controls the speed of the metabolic rate. For the production of thyroid hormones, the thyroid needs iodine, an element contained in its ideal form in Kelp. Iodine is not stored in the body in the same way as iron, it being eliminated and that is why we need to get it from the daily diet.

The thyroid influences all body functions: the health of the nerves, the formation of bones, the proper functioning of the reproductive system, the mineral condition of the skin, hair, nails and teeth, speech and our mental state.
At the smallest iodine deficiency, a condition called hypothyroidism appears, which leads to fatigue, inertia and the accumulation of extra pounds.

Excellent source of vitamins and minerals: Kelp contains 46 minerals, 16 amino acids and 11 different vitamins. The predominant minerals are iodine, salt, iron, potassium, phosphorus and calcium. The main vitamins are vitamin A and niacin (vitamin B3).
