Astragalus

Astragalus propinquus, also called A. membranaceus or Huang Qi (in free translation: "yellow capetenia"), is one of the 50 fundamental plants for traditional Chinese medicine. Its roots are used as a physical and mental tonic, especially for the yang aspects.
In traditional Chinese medicine, it is said that Astragalus tones the spleen and is therefore used in case of fatigue related to lack of appetite.

Astragalus contains three components that allow the plant to have such a positive impact on human health: saponins, flavonoids and polysaccharides, which are all active compounds contained in certain plants, including some fruits and vegetables.

Saponins are known for their ability to lower cholesterol, improve the immune system and prevent cancer.

Flavanoids, which are also found in Astragalus, provide health benefits through cellular signaling. They have antioxidant qualities, the control and eradication of free radicals and can help prevent heart disease, cancer and immunodeficiency.

Polysaccharides are known to have antimicrobial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory capabilities, among other health benefits.
