Conjugated Bile Acids are needed to emulsify fats for absorption. Deficiency can lead to soft stools and reduced absorption of fat and fat-soluble nutrients.
Bile Acid Factors is a blend of natural, highly purifying active ingredients that restore a healthy balance of the biliary system. Acid Factors bile increases bile secretion and flow, having in addition an antispasmodic action that reduces the strength and frequency of bile duct spasm. With these properties, biliary stasis is prevented and the tendency to stones is inhibited. For the treatment of hepatobiliary disorders including: bile duct dyskinesia, biliary stasis, biliary inflammation, cholecystitis, cholelithiasis.
Bile acids are molecules synthesized from cholesterol in the liver by conjugating cholesterol to certain amino acids. They are stored in the gallbladder. From the gallbladder, after a meal, they are released in the small intestine and have the role of emulsifying dietary fats.
Commonly called bile salts in the gut, bile acids actually act as a detergent that emulsifies fat. After taking part in the digestion process, bile acids are almost completely (95%) absorbed in the intestines and re-enter the bloodstream, reaching the liver and, from there, into the gallbladder.
In addition to bile salts, bile contains cholesterol, water, bile acids and the pigment bilirubin. The role of Bile Acid Factors (and bile salts) in the body is to:
- helps digestion by breaking down fats
- helps absorb fat-soluble vitamins
- waste disposal
What happens when your body does not produce enough bile salts?
Abdominal pain is often the main symptom of biliary insufficiency. Over time, the pain stretches back and to the sides of the torso and worsens after a hearty meal or high consumption of fatty or spicy foods. In addition to the pain that can last between 1 and 4 hours, biliary insufficiency can have other symptoms.
If the fat-soluble vitamins and fatty acids you eat cannot be absorbed, they pass into the colon and can cause complications. People who do not produce enough bile salts, probably because their gallbladder has been removed, may have:
- diarrhea
- constipation
- bloating
- nausea
- vomiting
- foul-smelling gases
- abdominal cramps
- irregular bowel movements
- weight loss
- pale colored chairs
People with bile salt deficiency can try Bile Acid Factors to suppress these symptoms. It is also important to stay well hydrated. About 85 percent of the bile is made up of water.
