Saw Palmetto is a botanical known to support healthy urinary flow and prostate function. NOW included pumpkin seed oil as the base of this product as a nutritional oil that contributes essential fatty acids and phytosterols that are important to men's health.

The studies carried out so far have shown, for some necessary extracts from the fruit of the dwarf palm, a beneficial action in the treatment of benign prostatic hypertrophy in stage I and II and micturition disorders, due to bladder irritation;
• It has been experimentally demonstrated that a hexane extract from the dwarf palm, rich in phytosterols, has anti-edematous, anti-adaptogenic action and dose-dependently inhibits the fixation of androgens on the cellular receptor of the prostate tissue level. Fatty acids and phytosterols are ingredients that alter estrogen receptors and prevent the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone. (DHT), much more chemically active. The antiandrogenic action is developed by a 90% alcoholic extract made from the vegetable product;
• The investigated dwarf palm extracts proved an anti-inflammatory action due to the reduction of the synthesis of prostaglandins and leukotrienes. The action of flavonoids and some fruit polysaccharides is not representative;

Pumpkin Seed Oil Benefits

 

• Tocopherol and selenium from pumpkin seeds have an anti-radical action against reactive oxygen species (free radicals), preventing the oxidative degradation of lipids, vitamins, hormones and enzymes, but also a strong anti-inflammatory action;
• Treatment with pumpkin seed oil reduces the frequency of urination but does not influence the evolution of prostate hypertrophy. A hypothesis that explains the clinical effectiveness of pumpkin seed extracts is based on the presence of phytosterols in the plant product. There is the assumption that 13-sitosterol competitively inhibits the synthesis of androgens and it is possible to interact with the recovery mechanisms at the level of the hypothalamus, thus inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins;
• It was also observed that a protein fraction from pumpkin seeds acts as a trypsin inhibitor, which probably explains the anthelmintic action of the product;
